I found some time to do an Easter design!
These nails have a yellow to light gray gradient with subtle white polka dots. I like them because they remind me a of sunshine.
Here’s another picture of those crazy kittens of mine. They are getting bigger everyday! They love their cat bed (which I am thankful for). Their favorite toys are a paper bag, a box that previously contained 12 cans of soda, and a paper ball. I like these toys because when they get to much wear and tear they are easily replaceable. Riley is letting Craig clip her nails when she’s tired but Emma isn’t having it. They have recently discovered how to get up onto the dining room table and disciplining them to do anything hasn’t been going so well… but maybe persistence is the key. Riley likes to be pet and picked up and Emma just wants to bite my fingers off. I love them both 🙂
I saw something like this on pinterest and I wanted to try it out. Luckily I had a tiny bit of top coat left and I was waiting until my new bottle of top coat got a little lower so I could combine them. Instead, I took a drop of my black nail polish and put it in hoping to get a nice transparent black color. I mixed it up the best I could and then tried to apply it and it didn’t work… the mixture was inconsistent. I set it aside to throw away but the next day I decided to try it again and this time it was perfect! If at first you don’t succeed… or something 🙂
So I put on a coat of my new sheer nail polish mixture. Then I painted a black line all the way around my nail (secret: I found this part rather difficult and after several failed attempts on my opposite hand, I decided to paint those nails black instead). Then I applied the dots and another coat of the black transparent stuff. And then, just for good measure, I put a regular top coat on. 🙂 Needless to say, these nails didn’t chip all week 🙂
My mom said they evoke memories of the past, when people used to wear things like black hats with netted veils on them. They remind me of polka dotted nylon stockings.
Nail Polish Used
OPI Black Onyx
This is one of the colors I chose as an accent color to the color scheme of my computer/sewing room. It is a beautiful, vibrant, red orange to go with shades of turquoise and navy blue. The pillow in the background is what inspired me to choose this color for my room and it’s the reason why I got this color nail polish also.
I thought about doing all of my nails in one solid color for once but I couldn’t bring myself to do it… so I painted one nail white with polka dots. I’m surprised at all the compliments I’ve received from such a simple design. There must be other people that love this color just as much as I do.
